Vacancy Senior advisor on ecology and nature legislation

In this role, you'll combine your ecological knowledge with your skills as an advisor and project manager. Nature legislation provides the framework. You'll assess interventions for their impact on protected natural values and advise on meassures to prevent and mitigate damage to nature as much as possible. This primarily involves assessments related to area protection. You'll tackle more complex issues, such as ecological assessments related to nitrogen deposition. You'll have an entrepreneurial, proactive, and customer-focused approach. You'll identify new market opportunities and know how to create and capitalize on them. As a project manager, you'll manage colleagues, maintain client contacts, and ensure projects are completed within the established timeframe, financial framework, and quality requirements. You'll also play a role in training junior colleagues in the field.

What we are looking for

In terms of education and experience, we expect:
  • A completed university-level degree specializing in Ecology, Biology, or Forest and Nature Management.
  • A broad ecological foundation with knowledge of species and habitats, and the ecological systems required to interpret impacts on Natura 2000 areas.
  • At least five years of experience resolving ecological issues and consulting projects within the framework of nature legislation, specifically on the topics of area protection and nitrogen.

Experience in preparing appropriate assessments is required.

Waardenburg Ecology is a leading consultancy in the field of ecology and landscape design, with offices in Culemborg, Haren (Groningen), and Nijmegen.
Our Nature & Landscape department consists of two teams and focuses primarily on the ecology of (protected) natural values and biodiversity on land. This includes studies related to nature legislation and spatial development, evaluations of and plans for nature (management) measures, inventories and monitoring of flora and fauna, vegetation mapping, and defragmentation research.
